House Updates

Yay! We closed on our house on Friday! Everything went according to plan and actually, we ended up having to pay $5000 less in closing costs than we had estimated. So, not only did we close on our house on Friday, but we went on a shopping spree.

We went and bought family room furniture, we got a sofa, loveseat, ottoman, end tables/coffee table and a recliner! We got it for a very reasonable price too! Here's a picture of our new furniture, it will be delivered ni about 2 weeks.

Then we bought a sectional for our living room. Here's a picture of that!

Finally (at furniture row), we bought a desk. Jeremy already had one that he got a long time ago, but we found the exact same one for me. That way I can have all of my scrapbooking stuff in my own desk and not have to have it all over the place! yay! Our "dining room" is going to be our office. There was no picture of it, but I'll post pictures online at some point.

Then, we went to Home Depot and got all kinds of paint and we also found a super deal on a front loading washer and dryer. I am super excited to finally be able to do a full load of laundry! Whew! Jeremy also went to Sears and bought a new grill, lawn mower, and trimmer, so he's excited!

So that was all Friday... Oh, and I baby-sat and Jeremy and his mom prepped the whole family room for the take-down of the "Gyspy Gold" I do have pictures, but the camera is at the new house and the internet is not hooked up, so pictures will come later. So anyway, they worked on that.

Then on Saturday we tackled painting. My parents and Jeremy's parents as well as Amy and my sister and Jeremy's brother and Jon and Justine all came over to help paint! We painted the family room brown, then the living room/office we painted a bright blue. It all went much fast than expected. We also had my dad assemble some shelves, a porch swing and other items we had purchased.

Sunday we worked on painting the master bedroom. It is a chocolate brown on three walls and a cream on the fourth wall. It is my favorite room and it look beautiful. Then we decided to tackle the horrible checkered gingham wall-paper in the kitchen. It is coming off fairly easily, but at the same time, it is in the kitchen and its around the cabinets, behind the fridge, behind the stove, etc... So its a challenge to get to and pull off. Once that is done (today) we will prep it and paint it a bright, but not as bright as the living room blue. So what I have learned is that I WILL NEVER PUT WALLPAPER IN MY HOUSE! If you want to wallpaper something, just remember that someday someone will have to try to take it down and it WILL NOT BE EASY!

So this week we are going to continue to prep the house for move in, we will paint the kitchen, paint the basement (orange and blue, guess who picked those colors), and move everything from the apartment to the house except the furniture. Then on Sunday we will move all of the furniture and we will officially be moved into our new house!

So basically we enjoyed our new house, enjoyed spending the extra money we didn't have to spend on closing and did not enjoy peeling wallpaper. Pictures will come later, but hopefully the descriptions are enough for now! Also, we still plan on posting pictures from our Italy trip! But again, if I have time to be putting up pictures, I should probably just be grabbing a scraper and peeling off more wallpaper!
