Anyone else have these dollhouses as a child? We LOVED them and played with them constantly. My parents kept them and now Anna loves to play with them too. She's very into dolls (and stuffed animals). It's also funny to watch her because she has no concept of scale. She'll attempt to go down this slide or climb in the miniature car or put herself in that little itty bitty swing in the house. We just laugh and laugh. She's finally understanding that the toys are for the dolls to play on, not her!
Our almost 8 month old is finally sitting up. Anthony's of the "just don't really care" variety and we've been encouraging him to sit, reach for toys, etc... for a while. He's finally decided that sitting might actually be pretty cool and he can better watch Anna play like this. He's really come a long way in just a few weeks! I didn't get his 7 month post done, mostly because nothing changed from 6-7 months, but I need to make sure I get an 8 month post out next week, he's done so much recently!
We have a future musician on our hands for sure! Not only does she always need to have music on during the day, but this child sings constantly. While she doesn't always have the correct words, she ALWAYS sings a recognizable tune. She sings everything from Twinkle Twinkle to Immaculate Mary (a current favorite). Also a favorite is Old McDonald, during which she refuses to name any animals except sheep (she likes to say "BAAA" really loud).
She's also constantly climbing up here and playing our piano and she loves to mimic the various notes. She'll flip through the pages of the book, play a "song" and then flip some more. It's adorable and I can't wait to teach her some piano. Until she passes me up with her skills that is...
We're teething machines around here this week. Hence the lack of blogging due to nap strikes... Anthony popped one through and is working on the second. Anna has had 6-8 coming in, including molars. She finally popped 2 through, but is definitely in pain over the others. At least she can tell me now "Teeeeeeth. Owwwwch. Ohhhh nooooo". Get them all over with at once kiddos!
This is Anthony's favorite spot lately. He LOVES the tree. He bats at the ornaments and could stare at the lights all day long!
I can't stand the cuteness. My parents got her a coat/mittens/snowsuit set after Christmas last year, super on sale. Thankfully it fits this year and she loves it. I had been searching and searching for satin lined winter hats for her but apparently I'm quite picky. I found some, but I just didn't like anything and they seemed expensive. (Yes, I could probably make one, but my time is incredibly limited at the moment, life is busy!) So we were just using Anna's old hat from last year and putting a satin sleep cap under it. That was a pain, keeping track of two hats and tucking one under the other. Not to mention, her hat from last year was a lot too small, it now fits her cousin well :-). So anyway, I finally found here after a lady posted the link in an adoption hair/skincare FB group I'm on. And I fell in love with this hat. To top it off, it was only $11! We love it and Anna says she's "tute" in it! Thes best part is that it's big, so it should fit for a few years. And her hairstyles stay protected in it and we don't lose moisture each time we step outside!
Tomorrow morning is our 8th PRIDE Foster Care class. 8 out of 9. We're almost done. And all I have to say is, thank goodness. For most of the people in our class, this is new information. They have no knowledge of how the DCFS system works or how adoption works at all. They've never had that experience. For us, however, I'd say 90% of the stuff we've covered is stuff we covered in our homestudy the first time. We went over discipline, parenting, loss, family connections, being part of a team, etc... We have 2 completed adoptions. We know how it works. Yes, the Adopting Waiting Child program is different, but the general process is the same. So it's been a long few weeks. We've had 3 hours classes on Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings and while we were hoping to learn new information, that has not been the case.
Okay, enough complaining about it. We're just glad we're almost done and can move on. One thing this class has done, is reaffirm our decision to move forward with the AWC program. And it reaffirmed our decision to take on a sibling group with young children. We don't know when, and we're really not ready quite yet, but we're confident that when God sees fit, the right children will be placed in our home. For now, I'll continue to pray for our future children who are likely already born and having a rought start to life.
