Oh my goodness, ours is broken too! E does that same thing and you'll never believe this, but it actually started working again as a result (but sadly died again a week later!) I'm dying for our credit to get here. :)
Haha, well, at least he fixed it for a little while :-). Ours still washes dishes perfectly. However, the handle to open it broke off, making it nearly impossible to get into in the first place and it's not something that can be fixed.
