Big news

I've had a hard time blogging lately.  Not a whole lot has gone on around here the last few weeks.  I thought about blogging about the 2 year old challenges we're facing with our strong willed daughter.  Or the slow progress of our laid back son's walking.  Or how challenging this adoption wait has been on me this time around.  Or maybe this week about how a priest (from another parish) pulled me aside and said my kids were being too disruptive in daily Mass and people were complaining and how upset I was over it.

And I was going to.  I was going to sit down and blog about all those things.  And then I didn't want to complain or dwell on the negative.  So we've been going about our regular routine, enjoying our time with our beautiful kids and this wonderful weather, hoping for a phone call.

And yesterday the call came.

Our case worker was out of the office, so her intern called us.  So we didn't get quite all of the information, but as I just typed that our case worker called with more info.  Basically here's what's up:

I had typed out all kinds of stuff and then I've been on the phone for hours and email and all kinds of stuff.  Basically what was up in the air earlier today is now solidified and our family is growing in a very short time.

Please keep our family in your prayers.  Next week we will be bringing two little girls into our homes to adopt.  They are 3 and 1.  The 1 year old shouldn't have much trouble adjusting as it sounds like she is very easy going and attaches very easily to new caregivers.  The three year old is energetic and smart and full of spunk.  However, the three year old has also seen and experienced some things in her short life that I, as an adult, would have a challenge processing.  She will need a lot of love, supervision and support and we're very thankful that we know she'll find that in our family and community.  We are asking for prayers that we can overcome the challenges that she may face in our family and that she will soon understand that we love her unconditionally and this home is now her permanent home.  We know that God is calling us to be these girls' parents and we just hope that we can gracefully accept all of the challenges and blessings that come with this new adventure.

We are absolutely overjoyed to add these beautiful girls to our family next week.  Our lives are changing very drastically in a matter of days, but we couldn't be more thrilled and honestly, a little terrified at the way God has grown our family.

I'm so excited for you and J and the kids!!! I can see how it's a little scary, but you will be great parents to the girls -they are lucky to have you!! I am excited to follow you as you grow your family and have my prayers.
Also, I can't believe the priest said those things to you!! Where is the love and the friendship of Christ? It's probably grumpy old people - I get dirty looks sometimes when Luke acts up ... hang in there! And keep bringing the babies to Mass!
