Springtime!

This time of year is so beautiful! I got to sit and pray outside and it's just so quiet and serene! Right now I'm sitting in our backyard on our comfy swing enjoying the beautiful weather, sounds of spring and the breeze blowing in the tree. Oh and the squirrel that is super interested in what I am doing. It's just so peaceful! Wow!

The only downside is the whole allergy thing! There's such a dilemma going on in our house right now because both of us so want to have the windows open, the air off and not only save money on our electric bill, but enjoy the breeze through out house. However, we end up spending that money in doctors bills instead! We both have allergy issues that really flare up in the spring and fall. We are totally convinced Jeremy is allergic to our pear tree blossoms. They bloomed about a week ago (and are gorgeous by the way) but he's been sneezing and scratching his eyes ever since. When he's inside all day, he's fine. The minute we go outside to spend any kind of time or open the house up at all, he's back at the sneezing and itchy eyes. I'm not as bad, but any kind of length of time outside and I do the same! Yuck!

So we've resigned ourselves to the fact that, at our house, outdoors should remain outdoors and the air conditioning has to stay on... As much as we hate to do it, our health is more important than the electric bill... But that's not going to stop us from enjoying out beautiful backyard! We had a lot of people over this week and really utilized that space and are just so grateful each and every day for the wonderful home that we have! And we can't wait to add a swing set and a cool baby swing from our tree! Someday!

On that note, we had our first Homestudy Day this past Monday. We were with our group of couples wishing to adopt (there are 5 other couples). We spent the day discussing parenting styles, discipline, communication, marriage stuff, etc... In a way, we kinda felt like we were on our engaged encounter retreat all over again! It was all fairly elementary for us, but it was really nice to spend that time with the other couples and check one more thing off of our adoption checklist. We were given stacks of paperwork to fill out about marriage, parenting views, values, family history, etc... I quickly finished all of my stuff, Jeremy's working on his, and we hope to have it turned in ASAP! We have our next Homestudy on Monday April 26 and then a third one to be scheduled at our home. Things just keep moving right along!
