Updates

It has been a super busy 5 days! Wow, a lot has happened! So here's a list (because I like lists) of the updates in our life for the last few days!

1) I began a long-term sub position for the rest of the semester. I am taking over the Sophomore Theology classes at the high school for a teacher who had to take a medical leave. As an teacher with an elementary degree, this is a little bit outside of my comfort zone, but I am quickly adjusting to be a high school teacher. The rest of the semester is going to be spent covering the 10 Commandments (as sophomore theology is an intro to morality) and the current moral issues that accompany those commandments! It is certainly going to be (and already has been) a challenge for someone who is used to kids under the age of 10! Although they sometimes act the same! It is a cool opportunity as I would never and will never apply nor accept a high school teaching position :-)! So it is a fun opportunity and a great learning experience as long as it is only for 6 weeks!

2) We bought a piano! I have played the piano since I was a little girl. I love to play the piano and it has always been a great stress outlet for me, it's very calming! So we had been looking for a used piano (not all that seriously, but still looking once in a while anyway) but we really didn't have much money to spend on one. So one day I happened to check the classifieds and found one for $200. I then checked craigslist and found the same one with a picture! It looked beautiful! And they lived just a few blocks from our house!
So we went to look at it that evening and after looking at it and playing a little, we quickly decided that it was perfect. It is like 10 years old and they bought it for their son. He now is in college and moves around a lot and they are moving as well and don't want to take it with them, which caused some urgency and a low price! In addition, the whole inside had been recently rebuilt and tuned!
I have really enjoyed the piano and love to play! Jeremy likes it too, he likes to study while I play! I also am excited to have our future children learn to play, it's just such a valuable thing to know I feel! (I'll put pictures up soon, I haven't taken any yet...)

3) Adoption updates! We had our second homestudy and completed all of our paperwork. All we have left to complete is our Home Visit, where our caseworker comes to speak with us in our home. We also have to create our profile (like a scrapbook) and video. So hopefully all of our paperwork will go through quickly and we will be licensed by the beginning of summer. Then we will be put in the pool of prospective adoptive parents and be waiting for that phone call!

So in a nutshell, that has been our last few days. In addition we went to a wedding in Chicago and celebrated my dad's birthday! Jeremy's still studying for his upcoming exam and I'm finishing up the second level of my cake decorating class!
