Christmas 2014

We always spend a good amount of time traveling to see family during Christmas.  We look forward to the visits and we always enjoy seeing everyone.  It's not stressful for us, it's just totally fun.

On the Saturday before Christmas, we celebrated with my family.  The kids enjoyed opening presents at Grandma and Grandpa's and we had a lot of fun!  The kids all got some toys, clothes, and sleeping bags!

On Sunday, we went to Jeremy's parents' house for Christmas.  We enjoyed time with them, eating snacks and opening presents.  The kids got more fun toys, lots of puzzles and coloring activities, and a portable DVD player for the car!

On Christmas Eve, we always do our family Christmas in the morning.  We opened presents together and the girls enjoyed their new dolls while Anthony raced cars all over the house.  We ate some cinnamon rolls and hung out as a family.

That evening, we went to Jeremy's grandpa's house.  The kids had lots of fun running around and playing.  There was lots of delicious food to eat and lots of people to visit with.  The kids were all well behaved and enjoyed opening some presents from great aunts and uncles and from great-Papa.

Jeremy's aunt got them all head lamps.  It was a huge hit!

That night, things went down-hill quickly.  Anthony woke up at like 1 in the morning and was coughing and running a high fever (104).  We had him sleep in our room on the extra mattress and we discussed Christmas plans (whether or not to stay home/go).  He was very restless all night and woke up with a 102 temp.  We decided to keep our germs to ourselves and stay home for Christmas this year instead of going to my grandma's.  Anthony ran a high temp all day and basically spent the day sleeping/laying on me.  We had mac and cheese for lunch and tried to do some fun things with the other kids.  We watched a movie and lounged.

Poor sick little guy!

I ended up taking him in to the doctor the following day.  His fever was gone, but he still wasn't himself.  He tested negative for the flu, thank goodness.  But positive for strep.  So we knew that we wouldn't be going to see my grandparents on Saturday.

Saturday morning, Agnes and Anna woke up with fevers.  Their temps went up and down all morning and that evening I took them to prompt care.  Both tested negative for flu.  But Agnes tested positive for strep.  Anna had had a double ear infection two weeks prior that apparently hadn't gone away. Her fever was due to a bad double ear infection.  So antibiotics for both of them.

By Sunday, all fevers were gone and everyone had been on antibiotics for at least 24 hours.  I took the two little kids to Mass with me and we went to my parents.  It's been a slow recovery for everyone.  We've spent almost two weeks lounging in our pajamas at home.  I wanted them to be well rested and ready for school come Monday.  We're going a little stir-crazy.  But everyone seems to be healthy now and hopefully that won't happen again!

We had gone all of 2014 without a sick visit to the doctor and in the last 2 weeks, I've taken kids 5 times!!!
