I'll go with successes and failures... I decided that after Christmas, we'd attempt to potty train Anthony. I knew going into it that it may not be time quite yet. But you never know till you try.
He actually did better than I expected. He actually was going on the potty when I put him on it. He'd also pee in his pants in between. Then about day 3, I knew he was understanding. How? Because he REFUSED to go on the potty at all. He'd hold it until we put his diaper on him. He can control it. I counted that as a win.
However, we also decided that he's obviously not "ready" if he is refusing so adamantly. No amount of candy bribing or match box cars was going to convince him to go on the potty. He can be very stubborn.
So I'm backing off for now. We have some good cloth trainers (and I'll be getting another one). For now, I'll be putting him on the potty frequently. Rewarding any successes. And letting him pee in his trainer. When he turns 3 in a few months, we'll try taking the trainers away and see if he's decided it's time.
In a way, I'm relieved. I wasn't quite ready for the constant potty runs and stuff again. The girls are all self sufficient in that regard now. But I'm also very glad that I had a chance to realize that he CAN control it and knows how. So it's a matter of him deciding it's time. At this point, I'll take that as a win!!!

So excited for Anthony!! He can do it!
Glad to know that almost 3 is a good time to start trying. Right now, we know when Luke wants to go #2, but how do you catch that they want to go #1? Lots of drinks and potty chair every 15 mins?
Potty training is great, but I just dread it for some reason. Maybe it's just "first time jitters." :-)
