Friday Quick Takes (29)

--- 1 ---
I'm sure you're all anxiously awaiting a potty training update.  Because I'm sure that's why you read my blog...  But hey, it's pretty much been my life this week, so here's the update :-).

Anna's done great.  Yesterday she only had one accident.  We've been able to go places and she's used public bathrooms.  Most of the time, though, she holds it until we get home.  She's a smart one.  She caught on so quickly.  She is in underwear (or cloth trainers) for all but naptime and nighttime.  Yesterday I put a diaper on her for nap, she pointed at it and said, "no, no, no".  I told her she needed to wear it for nap, but she didn't need to use it.  She woke up dry.  She was practically dry when we got her up in the morning too!  She constantly amazes me with her ability to pick things up so quickly.

All in all, it was a long week, I spent a lot more time in the bathroom than I cared to, ever.  But it's worth it.  Persistence was key.  And stubbornness helped too :-).  And we can't forget M&Ms.  So I'm giving my extra cloth diapers to my sister to use for now!

--- 2 ---
We started Anthony on solids this week.  I'm giving him a mixture of oatmeal, rice and pear juice.  He has some constipation issues, so I didn't want to stop him up with just the rice.  But the point of giving him solids so early was to hopefully help his spitting and help him gain weight (I'd normally wait until at least 6 months).  Well, the oatmeal didn't do it for him by itself.   So we added some rice and pear juice.  It's amazing.  He no longer spits much, only once in a while.  And he's no longer constipated.  He's a billion times happier (which is saying something, he's always happy!).  And I think he's finally getting full.  All that formula just wasn't doing it for him!  He was taking almost 40 oz a day!  He's cut back to like 25-30.  I think those extra 15 were just being barfed back on us all the time.  And we've been able to stop the Zant.ac.  And he loves to eat.  Oh my goodness.  He LOVES to eat!

Both of my kids love to be read to.  Anna, in particular.  And she's about as routined as they come.  We have to read this book each and every night before Anthony's allowed to go to bed.  I could recite it in my sleep.  The truck goes "beep, beep, beep" and of course, Anna calls the book "beep, beep".  It's adorable and I can't get enough of my babies' snuggles!

The three cousins!

Anna insisted on holding her brother.  As I went to snap the picture, I realized she was kissing his hand.  I melted.  They are just so darn cute.

--- 6 ---

I blogged last week about how I don't have much to blog about.  And then I wrote a bunch this week.  Go figure!

--- 7 ---
Anna likes to be entertained while she's doing her business.  I couldn't help but take a picture of my pretty little girl sitting on the pot with her laptop.
And my favorite part is that the laptop frequently says "D, duck, quack, quack" and Anna now calls all ducks "whack, whacks".

Great on the food helping Anthony! We ended up waiting until 6 months for Isaiah, but after the results of less spit up/happier baby, I wish I started sooner.

Love that Anna is doing so well on the potty.

no time to blog today...my kids are refusing to nap.
