Potty training is going very well. Anna loves anything that gives her independence and this is no exception. It will take some time still, but we're off to a great start!
Yesterday we started off with her in basically no clothes at all. Well, I didn't take into account her bowleggedness. When she pees, it doesn't run down her legs and make her uncomfortable... It just hits the floor :-). So we ran out, got some Minnie Mouse panties and put those on her. The incentive of keeping Minnie dry has helped a ton! And wet underwear do NOT feel good!
I set a timer for every 15 minutes as a reminder to have to sit on the potty. So yesterday she went on the potty like 7-8 times. I gave her tons of "juice" (water with a little bit of lemonade mixed in) to make her have to go a lot. We only had 3 accidents. I wanted her to have lots of practice on the potty.
Today I decided to not push the liquids as much (we had an errand to run, to pick up some cloth trainers and I didn't want her peeing in the car!). So she's only gone like 3 times on the potty with 2 accidents. But she stayed dry in the car! It was a 40 minute round trip! And she has asked to go on the potty 3 times now. I'd say that's a HUGE step in the right direction for day two!
For naps I've been putting our organic cotton diapers on her so that she feels wet. Lately she's been waking up from nap dry and yesterday it was barely wet. At night we're still doing our super stuffed pocket diaper routine, I'm not banking on dry nights for a while, she's a super wetter at night!
She loves her Minnie underwear and now shows it off all day long. She leans over to make sure Minnie is dry a lot. She gets excited to get her M&M when she goes on the potty and she's catching on quickly. I hope it continues to go well!
