Friday Quick Takes (38)

--- 1 ---
Day 16:  I am thankful for the opportunity to share our adoption story.  We're pretty much open books about it, but lately we've had multiple opportunities to share our story.  In particular, today.  Our agency is doing a lot of PR and outreach right now due to being a new organization.  They are sending out a big newsletter here in a week or so and asked us if we would be the featured story.  I had an interview today to talk about both of our adoptions and our fallthrough.  I'm really excited to read it and see the newsletter!

To add to last week's list of funny things Anna does to entertain us:
Pushing the Halloween bear around in the laundry basket.  What you can't see is that she put Anthony's shoes on the bear (and got really mad when we eventually had to take them off and put them on Anthony).  She also only has one shoe on herself.  What a goofball!

Lately when I give Anna a snack, she climbs up on the ottoman and eats it like it's her snack spot.  Even if we're all in the other room, she insists on eating snack right here.

Sitting in the Bumbo
--- 3 ---
My sweet snuggly boy after a long nap.  He doesn't snuggle much, so I definitely enjoy when it happens!  He is such a sweet, sweet boy.

--- 4 ---
We're 1/3 of the way done with our 27 hour PRIDE Foster care training.  I don't do well sitting and listening to someone talk for 3 hours.  Add that with a still sore tailbone (yes, like 6 weeks later) and I just get antsy!  Since graduating from college, I'd forgotten how much I disliked "class".  I learn extremely quickly and retain information very well.  I get incredibly bored (and always have).  Within the first 30 minutes of class, I've read the entire session's materials, all of my "homework" and completed all the worksheets.  My poor PRIDE book is COVERED in doodles.  Only 3 more weeks.

I understand the need for the training.  Especially because most of the people in our class have ZERO knowledge or exposure to the foster care or adoption systems.  They know nothing about the laws or procedures.  However, much of it is a repeat for us as we've now done two homestudies and been a part of the "system" for like 2 1/2 years.  I just can't sit still for this many hours!  I'm used to a toddler's attention span!

Anna went through a phase where she wouldn't wear anything restricting.  Including footy pajamas.  Well, her bedroom gets super cold at night, it's surrounded by outside walls.  So we tried the footies on her again.  Well, she loves them now and boy does she look adorable in them!  I seriously can't believe what a beautiful little girl she is turning into!

--- 6 ---
I wrote this instead of cleaning my house.  Sorry house.

--- 7 ---
A friend told me this week that her 2 1/2 year old daughter was going around saying Anna and Anthony were her best friends and "the only thing she (consistently) keeps saying she wants for christmas is a 'other [another, since she already has one bitty baby] brown bitty baby."

She wants a baby that looks like my kids.  Thanks Veronica for sharing.  We want our kids to grow up being accepted even though they look different than many of their friends.  It's so sweet to see their friends loving them for who they are and accepting their differences even at such a young age.
