Marriage

Well, I missed a few days, I think I caught up, so there are more than one post that I just posted :-)

Day 24: I am thankful for marriage.  Most specifically, for the wonderful examples of marriage Jeremy and I, and our children, have for good, solid marriages.

My parents are celebrating their 28th anniversary today.

My in-laws celebrated their 30th anniversary a few months back.

My grandparents (on my dad's side) celebrated their 60th anniversary back in June.

My grandparents (on my mom's side) had celebrated over 50 years when my grandpa died.

Jeremy's grandparents (on his dad's side) had celebrated over 50 (probably closer to 60) when his grandma died.

And the list could continue.

I am thankful that my kids will grow up in an environment where traditional marriage is not only common, but celebrated.  Lifelong marriage is expected and cherished.

I am thankful each and every day for my parents' marriage and the wonderful example they showed to us girls.  They have always kept faith as their center.  They were great at working through conflict and still are.  They showed and still do show affection around us.  They celebrate each and every anniversary with a nice dinner with all of us as family, to show how important marriage is to a family.  They support each other and balance each other out.  They know each other's quirks and they know when to just keep quiet.  They work as a team and they always build each other up.  I've never worried about my parents' marriage and for that I am so grateful.  Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!   And thanks to you and all of the others in our lives for being such shining examples of Christ's love for his Church.
